Florence Nature Park
This park is one of two fully developed park within the City. Originally acquired by the City in 1986, this park totals approximately 15 acres and provides for passive recreation. A park master plan was developed in 1990. A variety of funding sources have been used to implement the improvements in this park. Private donations, grant funding, and capital budget funding have all been utilized. The Evelyn M. Kalb gathering house is rented to the public for parties or special occasions by the Public Services Department. Rental fee depends on number in party. For information and reservations call Florence Public Services Department (859) 647-5416. This park is located off Banklick Street.

Directions to Park: Take Dixie Hwy to Banklick St., Turn at first left after stop sign into Florence Nature Park.

Facilities include the following:
* Evelyn M. Kalb Gathering House: Former residence renovated into public use building in 1991.
* Brick patio/wood trellis: Outdoor patio with landscaped gardens.
* Walking trails: 2,800 linear feet of asphalt and concrete surfaced walking trails.
* Parking area and entry drive: Asphalt parking for 80 cars.
* Granite animals: These granite animals were donated by the Florence Mall when the park was initially under construction. Children enjoy climbing on the animals.
* Gazebo: 24’ X 24’ Open air design with concrete floor, stone columns, cedar shake roof.
* Restroom building: This small structure houses restrooms and a storage room for the park.
 
Lincoln Woods Park
This park is one of two fully developed parks within the City limits. The land for this park was acquired by the City in 1959 as a part of the water treatment plant land acquisition. This 15 acre park was developed in 1985 into an active park which contains tennis and basketball courts, ball fields, playground, picnic shelter, restrooms and parking. Entrances are located on Rosetta and on Surfwood Drives. Shelter reservations are made through the Boone County Parks (859)334-2117.

Directions: Take KY 18 or U.S. 42 to Hopeful Church Rd., Turn onto Surfwood Dr., Take a right onto City Park Dr.

Facilities include the following:
* Two tennis courts: Asphalt surface courts fenced with black vinyl clad chain link fencing.
* Basketball court: Constructed of asphalt surface w/ color coat.
* Playground: Mulch surface w/ timber edging. Three pieces of play equipment plus swing sets.
* Picnic shelter: Concrete masonry unit (CMU) building w/ shelter roof. Formerly utilized as concession stand. The shelter is planned for future replacement.
* Wooded area: Natural wooded area w/ dirt trails.
* Two ball fields: Two clay infield ball fields w/ CMU dugouts and backstops. These balls fields may be reserved through Boone County Parks Department (859)334-2117.
* Restroom building: CMU structure w/ shingle roof.
 
Orleans Park
Acquired in 2002, the 9.5 was donated by Fischer Development and the City purchased an adjoining 1.5 acres to make this active park 11 acres. Located in the Orleans North subdivision the neighborhood park now contains a parking lot, playground, bridge, sled hill, restroom, shelter, basketball court, athletic field, paved trail, and sled hill. Still to come in the parks development is a sand volleyball court, tennis courts, gazebo and fishing pier.

Directions: Take U.S. 42 to Orleans Blvd., Turn right at stop sign onto Longbranch Rd., Turn right onto St. Louis Blvd.

Facilities include the following:
* Shelter: This shelter is available for reservation through the City of Florence Parks and Recreations Department. Click here to download a printable form or contact Park and Recreations Department at (859)647-5439.
* Playground: two pieces of play equipment, swing set, monkey bars, and benches.
* Bridge
* Basketball court
* Athletic field
 
South Fork Park
This park was originally planned as part of Farmview Subdivision Approval (mid 1980s). The developer donated five acres to the City in 1997 and 37 acres in late 2000. The park consists of 42 acres and a master plan was approved in concept by Council in 1996. This park contains a bridge, bike path, wooded meadow areas, shelter, restroom, playgrounds, basketball, splash grounds, tot lot, parking lot, sand volleyball and tennis courts incorporating a nautical theme.

Coming soon!  ATot-Lot Playground for children ages 2-5 continuing the nautical theme.

Directions: Take U.S. 42 to Farmview Dr., Turn right onto South Fork Park Dr.

Existing facilities include the following:

* Playground: incorporating a nautical theme.
* Sand volleyball court & concrete basketball court
* 210’ x 8’ wide pedestrian bridge: Steel structure with rough cut lumber planking and rails.
* asphalt bike path: 2,720 linear feet of bike path.
* asphalt entry drive: 1320 linear feet with a 50 car parking lot.
* Log dam habitat improvements in creek: Maintained by Florence Water & Sewer.
* Natural wooded and meadow areas.
* Earthen sculpture open play area. Mounded earth sculpture constructed of topsoil from adjacent development.
 

Stringtown Park
Stringtown Park is located on Kentucky Route 18 (Burlington Pike) between Kathryn and Wallace Avenues on 8 acres in the eastern section of the City. The City purchased the property in the spring of 2001 from the estate of Isabella Schmidt. It is the newest neighborhood park that features two play structures, a climbing apparatus, swing set, basketball court, paved walking trail, benches, restroom facility, drinking fountains, open green space and parking lot.

Coming soon!  A sand volleyball court, corn hole sets, and a seat-wall.

Effective July 1, 2007 the shelter at Stringtown Park will be available to rent. There is one rental per day. The fee is $25, non-refundable. Park hours are form dawn to dusk. To schedule reservations download the park shelter reservation form from the City’s web site or call Florence Parks & Recreation at (859) 647-5439. Payment must be made at the Florence Government Center payable to City of Florence. A receipt will be provided to show proof of reservation should the shelter be occupied at the time of your arrival. If you encounter any problems contact the Florence Police Department (859) 371-1234.

Residents in the area attended two public meetings to provide input on their needs for the neighborhood park. The following elements were incorporated into the master plan:

U.S. 42 Park
U.S. 42 Park, which was formerly the old city building, is currently undergoing a master plan process and will be developed into a neighborhood park.

Directions: Take U.S. 42 to Niblack Memorial Dr.
 
Walnut Creek Park
This minimally developed 2.5 acre park is located on a former landfill in the Walnut Creek Subdivision. The park consists of one ball field and open play area. There are no parking facilities associated with the park and it is primarily used by the local residents. Access is from Cedar Wood Circle on a concrete path via an easement.

Directions: Take Dixie Hwy to Banklick St., Turn onto Walnut Creek Dr., Turn right onto Cedar Wood Circle.
