Be prepared for the cold weather coming!

Be prepared: How to protect, prevent frozen pipes in cold weather.

During subzero temperatures as forecasted for this week, you should keep cabinet doors open under sinks to heat the pipes. Let water drip steadily out of the faucet furthest away from the meter, which keeps circulation moving.
If your pipes freeze, never defrost them with an open flame, because it risks bursting. Use hot air from a hair dryer, vacuum cleaner exhaust, or a closely monitored heat lamp/electric heater.
Before freezing weather, disconnect and drain hoses from outside faucets. You can wrap them with insulation, newspaper or cardboard. Turn off and drain irrigation systems and any device with backflow. Insulate pipes in unheated areas like garages, crawl spaces or attics.

Please call the City of Florence if you have any issues or believe your service line to be frozen.
