01/26/2012 - 11:30pm The Florence Fire/EMS Department as well as the employees of the City of Florence took time today to honor and congratulate Assistant Chief Tom Baumann and Battalion Commander Robin Brunker on their upcoming retirements. Both Assistant Chief Baumann and Commander Brunker provided more than twenty years of dedicated service to the Florence Fire/EMS Department, the City of Florence, and the Florence Fire Protection District. |

| Structure Fire - 8040 Burlington Pike | |||

01/07/2012 - 10:28am At 16:09 hours on Saturday January 7, 2012 Florence Fire/EMS units were dispatched to 8040 Burlington Pike for a reported structure fire. The caller advised Boone County Public Safety Communications Center that there was black smoke coming from the roof at this address. |

| Structure Fire 8512 Old Toll Road | |||

11/02/2011 - 8:29am On November 2, 2011 Florence Fire/EMS Department responded to a reported structure fire at 8512 Old Toll Road. Initial reports indicated this was a vacant building but that there may have been two homeless persons occupying the structure. Upon arrival units found a fully involved single family dwelling. Firefighters determined that all occupants had escaped and were accounted for, one of whom was treated for burn injuries. | Confined Space Incident | |||

10/21/2011 - 10:15am On October 21, 2011 Florence Fire/EMS Department responded to Skyview Drive for the report of a worker injured in a sewer explosion. Upon arrival Fire/EMS units determined that while testing a sewer line two workers were injured inside the pipe. One worker escaped and was treated and transported to the hospital. The second worker was tragically killed in the incident. | Motor vehicle crash at Pleasant Valley Road and Lendale Drive | |||

10/10/2011 - 11:00am Florence Fire/EMS Department responded to Pleasant Valley Road at Lendale Drive for a motor vehicle crash. A dump truck filled with gravel slid over an embankment and rolled over onto its top. The driver was not in the dump truck when it rolled over and was therefore uninjured. Diesel fuel leaked from the overturned truck and entered a nearby stream. Boone County Emergency Management and Fire/EMS personnel deployed absorbent booms in the stream to capture the leaking fuel. Kentucky Environmental Protection was also on scene to assist in mitigating the incident. |

| Vehicle Crash with Entrapment | |||

09/26/2011 - 10:49am On September 26, 2011 Florence Fire/EMS Department responded to Interstate 71/75 North at the 182 mile marker for a motor vehicle crash with entrapment. On arrival Fire/EMS units found a crash involving a passenger car and a tractor trailer. The driver of the passenger car was trapped in the vehicle. Crews stabilized the vehicle and removed both the front and rear doors to free the driver. The driver was treated and transported to the hospital. |
