Florence Nature Park
Nestled within the city limits, this passive park was acquired by the City in 1986 and has approximately 15 acres with paved walking trails for exploring nature. The granite animals were donated by Florence Mall for use at the facility. The recently renovated Evelyn M. Kalb Gathering House is located here and rented to the public for parties or special occasions from 8:00 am - 12:00 am by the Public Services Department (859) 647-5416. Tours of the facility are conducted by appointment only at (859) 647-5416 between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. This park is located off Banklick Street.

Directions: Take Dixie Highway/U.S. 42 to Banklick Street, Turn at first left after stop sign into Florence Nature Park.

Nature Park Amenities include the following:

  • Brick patio/wood trellis with an outdoor patio, grill, drinking fountains and landscaped gardens.
  • 2,800 linear feet of asphalt walking trails.
  • Entry Drive and asphalt parking area for 80 cars.
  • Granite animals: The granite animals were donated by the Florence Mall when the park was initially under construction.
  • Restroom building is attached to the Evelyn M. Kalb Gathering House and houses restrooms and a storage room.
  • Evelyn M. Kalb Gathering House was a former residence renovated into public use building in 1991. Hours are from 8:00 am - 12:00 am.
  • Loading and unloading area at the front door.

Lincoln Woods Park
Lincoln_Woods_ParkThe land for this park was acquired by the City in 1959 as a part of the water treatment plant land acquisition. This 15 acre park was developed in 1972 into an active park. Entrances are located on Rosetta and Surfwood Drives. Shelter reservations are made through the Florence Public Services (859) 647-5416.

Directions: Take KY 18/Burlington Pike or U.S. 42 to Hopeful Church Road, Turn onto Surfwood Drive, Take a right onto City Park Drive.

Lincoln Woods Park Amenities include the following:

The shelter may be reserved once a day through the City of Florence Public Services Department. The $26.50 fee is non-refundable  and must be paid within three (3) business days after making the reservation. To schedule reservations download the "Park Shelter Reservation Form" from the City's web site or call Florence Public Services at (859) 647-5416. Payment must be made at the Public Services Department in the Florence Government Center and made payable to "City of Florence". A receipt will be provided and should be taken on the reserved day as proof of payment should the shelter be occupied at the time of your arrival. For any problems encountered contact Florence Police at (859) 371-1234.

  • Two asphalt surface enclosed tennis courts. City sponsored clinics are conducted at the courts and have priority use.
  • Color coated asphalt surface basketball court.
  • Playground contains crumb rubber surface and timber edging. There are three (3) pieces of play equipment (including a tot lot) plus swings.
  • The concrete masonry picnic shelter with picnic tables, grills and drinking fountain.
  • Wooded area: Natural wooded area with dirt trails.
  • Two clay infield ball fields with concrete masonry dugouts and backstops. The balls fields may be reserved through Boone County Parks Department (859) 334-2117.
  • Concrete masonry restroom building has storage and drinking fountain.

Orleans Park
orleans_parkAcquired in 2002, Fischer Development donated 9.5 acres and the City purchased an adjoining 1.5 acres to make this active 11 acre park. The park is located in the Orleans North subdivision on the west side of the city.  Park hours are from Dawn to Dusk.

Directions: Take U.S. 42 to Orleans Boulevard, Turn right at stop sign onto Longbranch Road, Turn right onto St. Louis Boulevard.

The shelter may be reserved once a day through the City of Florence Public Services Department (859) 647-5416.   • Stocked lake with catch and release rule.

South Fork Park

south_fork_parkThis 42 acre park located on the west side of the city was originally planned as part of Farmview Subdivision Approval (mid 1980's). The developer donated five (5) acres to the City in 1997 and 37 acres in late 2000. The park has a nautical theme and is the largest city park. Park hours are from Dawn to Dusk.

Directions: Take U.S. 42 to Farmview Drive, Turn right onto South Fork Park Drive.

South Fork Park Amenities include the following:

  • Masonry restroom building with drinking fountains. 
  • Playground contains two (2) pieces of play equipment one for ages 2-5 and the other for ages 5-12, swing set and spring rockers built on a poured-in-place surface.
  • Sand volleyball court & concrete basketball courts.
  • Nine (9) hole Disc Golf course.
  • 210’ x 8’ wide pedestrian bridge: Steel structure with rough cut lumber planking and rails.
  • Asphalt bike path consists of 2,720 linear feet.
  • Asphalt entry drive is 1,320 linear feet with a 50 car parking lot.
  • Log dam habitat improvements in creek are maintained by Florence Water & Sewer.
  • Natural wooded and meadow areas.
  • Mounded earthen sculpture is constructed of topsoil for open play or sledding.


Stringtown Park

stringtownparkshelterStringtown Park Stringtown Park is located on Kentucky Route 18 (Burlington Pike) between Kathryn and Wallace Avenues on 8 acres in the eastern section of the City. The City purchased the property in the spring of 2001 from the estate of Isabella Schmidt. The  neighborhood park was named in a city-wide contest and the playground has a Camelot theme. Park hours are from Dawn to Dusk.

  • Four fitness stations with two pieces of outdoor exercise equipment in each for use by all populations funded by Land and Water Conservation Fund and Division of Waste Management Crumb Rubber Grants.
  • Asphalt paved trail funded by Recreational Trails Grant.
  • Concrete masonry shelter with six (6) picnic tables, grill, drinking fountain.

Niblack Memorial Park
Niblack Memorial Park is a 4.5 acre neighborhood park that was formerly the old city building. It is now home to the Florence Senior Activity Center. As recommended by the Park Master Plan a neighborhood park is also planned.

Directions: Take U.S. 42 to Niblack Memorial Drive.

Walnut Creek Park
This 2.5 acre park is located in the Walnut Creek Subdivision. The park consists of one ball field and open play area. There are no parking facilities associated with the park and it is primarily used by the local residents. Access is from Cedar Wood Circle on a concrete path via an easement.

Directions: Take U.S. 42/Dixie Hwy to Banklick Street, Turn onto Walnut Creek Drive, Turn right onto Cedar Wood Circle.


Florence Community Plaza

This 1/2 acre parcel, located on Mall Road at Connector Drive, was donated to the city and developed into a passive park with statues representing City departments and pavers installed of retired City personnel. Park is the site for the City's Christmas Tree Lighting Program.


Directions: From Burlington Pike/Kentucky Route 18 and/or U.S. 42 turn onto Mall Road. Turn at the light on Connector Drive and Heights Boulevard.
