Confined Space Incident
On October 21, 2011 Florence Fire/EMS Department responded to Skyview Drive for the report of a worker injured in a sewer explosion. Upon arrival Fire/EMS units determined that while testing a sewer line two workers were injured inside the pipe. One worker escaped and was treated and transported to the hospital. The second worker was tragically killed in the incident. Florence Fire/EMS units assisted by the Northern Kentucky Technical Rescue Team, Union Emergency Services Alliance, Erlanger Fire/EMS Department, Boone County Emergency Management and other Public Safety agencies recovered the second worker and turned the scene over to Kentucky OSHA.
